You are leaving home for the first time, traveling for most of the day, arriving in a country you know little about, where people speak a language you are not too good at, and arriving in a city where you do not understand how the public transport system works. You need to find your way to the university or get a key to a room, and you have no idea how to get there.

At times like this, you need help:  Your buddy will be waiting for you at Mannheim train station with your room key to take you to your room and make sure your arrival is a success.

You will also be helped on your first day at university to register at the university and then to go to the city to register with the city; help with opening a bank account, getting a semester ticket, and anything else within reason you need.

Who is this angel?  It is a student from the third or fifth semester who appreciated the help when he/she arrived in Mannheim and wants to help you. This work is voluntary and you can become a buddy yourself when the next intake of students arrives.

How is this organized? We have a key buddy who co-ordinates all the meetings and the help of the other buddies to ensure the best possible arrival for everyone.
