Studying during the Corona Pandemic - Update July 2021

Dear Electrical Engineering students,

The summer semester is coming to its end. Exams are coming up. Some of you asked already about the upcoming winter semester. Well, to be honest, we need to stay patient…

We are expecting to start the winter semester as a hybrid semester with the classes being taught mainly online, while the labs and tutorials will be held at the university in presence. This is largely caused by the current legal requirements for distance and space per person. We are prepared to change the format as soon as the regulations will allow this. In the third semesters, there are a few labs coming up, so please ensure you are in Mannheim at the beginning of the semester.

For our upcoming EEB students, the situation is slightly different. The current travel restrictions may prevent you from entering the country.

Consequently, we have decided to teach the first semester online. All international first semester courses will be offered online so that you are not required to be in Mannheim. We gained a lot of online teaching experience during the last three semester and will be able to provide a well-proven replacement for our presence courses.

Nevertheless, we encourage all students to come to Mannheim as soon as possible to get settled in and gain from the onsite exercises offered. We will offer in-presence tutorials and exercises as much as possible in parallel to the online theory sessions. We can also tell you from experience it is much easier to learn German, when you are in Germany and in contact with German-speaking people in your daily business.

We wish you all success in your exams, a nice summer vacation and are looking forward seeing you again in September.

Kind regards

Your EEB team
